Flowers
for Mother
We are working on creating an artistic installation for Södergården Elderly Home in Örkelljunga, commissioned by KC Syd for the municipality.
For the choice of materials, we focused on “locally sourced” resources and selected Helsingborg brick and glass from Småland. We wanted to collaborate with GlassFactory Boda to ensure both craftsmanship and artistic quality.
The artwork consists of an S-shaped dark brick wall with colored glass rods that allow light to pass through and will be illuminated in the evening. The sculpture is inspired by a wall hanging, “Juniblommor” by Märta Måås, which was found at the elderly home, serving as a modern interpretation of her work.
The interpretation translates the flowers from the tapestry into a stylized visual language, inspired by the video game Minecraft, making the artwork relevant and accessible to both older and younger generations.

Flowers for Mother
“The round sculptures express a power that is gentle and calm, yet unyielding. Additional castings, this time in glass, stimulate the imagination even further. Here, one seems to capture a perfectly encapsulated little scoop of the sea in cross-section—a microcosm of life. A moment of life appears to have been truly captured, even though it is, of course, an illusion.”

Impressions imprints expressions
For the past three years, I have been working with the theme Impressions, Imprints, Expressions – a phrase that clearly describes my recent practice, in which I explore new expressions using materials that are, for me, unfamiliar. At the same time, these new materials inspire my painting.
After receiving the Höganäs Culture Prize in 2023, I met Johan Bjärntoft at KKAM. He asked me if I wanted to come and work in the studio. At first, I was hesitant, but then I remembered that I had always wanted to create an imprint of Farhult’s beach. One evening, as I was working there and the sun was setting over the bay, I suddenly recalled a moment from my youth – an epiphany I had experienced on that very beach. I remembered walking down to the water in search of comfort and how everything suddenly opened up, making me feel like a part of it all. The secrets of the universe revealed themselves to me. But just as suddenly, someone at the party I had left behind noticed my absence, and the door to that experience closed. The secret remained behind that closed door.
This memory resurfaced, becoming the starting point for the entire series of ceramics, glass, and paintings that I am now working on.

Affectio
Composed by three parts:
Crystal shower, installation
Spiaggia nera, film three screens
Dust, installation
Materials: Stone, crystals, braided dynema line, aluminium.
With our project Affectio we wanted to investigate whether we have lost touch with our origin. Do we need rites and ceremonies to give life meaning? Rites are associated with change and can give our lives structure and order in an often incomprehensible existence. Knows the art fulfill such a function? In Affectio, we wanted to investigate whether you can make a art piece that works artistically based on the traditions that exist about stones and minerals. We asked ourselves if it is possible to restore our relationship to the material and examines what our mutual communication looks like.

Need
Materials: Recycled rain jackets, sailcloth, pillow stuffing
The work consists of recycled rain jackets. Chosen on the basis that they had a visible color and that they were a little odd to achieve an artistic expression. inside is a “doll” in the form of a sewn torso filled with old pillow contents. The arms are extended and have long straps to allow the jackets to hug the tree while creating a clear association with a straitjacket. In the small forest there is a larger number of tree huggers. The work wants to raise the question of what we really need.

Womanhood
Three films projected on large thin film screens and objects/furniture.
This is poetic work about the right to be yourself and hope in female community. The female community has in our Western culture lost it’s forze.
The origin of the idea came when I happened to see a room completely filled with old used wedding dresses, flickering by on social media. The image took hold me and I couldn’t let it go. So strong with all these hopeful women who have wore these white dresses. Now bleached and taken with time.
An important source of inspiration has been David’s painting “The Sabines”. The painting is complex. The art piece is about rape and is at the same time a clear picture of the woman’s ability to generate life. Becoming a mother gives her the courage to intervene and fend off threats, to save lives.
This is a room for women.

Most people

Film
Visiting the plain of Castelluccio in Umbria: A plain of flowers, a perfect image of paradise that extends to infinity up to the hill of the village of Castelluccio di Norcia. This is a village semi-demolished by the earthquake, today almost reduced to ruins. An image where life is death, an image that refers to a beauty indifferent to human drama. In this background we see a man appear who then disappears and reappears in the same image. Thus in a succession of several dimensions.
I am always interested in creating an image that can be interpreted regardless of who is looking at it. An experience that broadens the viewer’s vision.

Protection
Materials: Remaining fiberglass fabric from wall construction and fiberglass pipes, film
On each is a kind of protection. Oak is called in Latin, Quercus robur, which means strength. The swedish name ”Ek” comes from Old Norse ”Iga” and means reverence. It was often planted in places of worship. Now that life has become fragile, we need strength and reverence. Many find this in nature. At the same time, there is ongoing discussion about what is harmful to the environment and humans. Much is created by man himself in our need for MORE! So the question is who needs to be protected from whom.

The Red Thread
Film installation and objects. A project about reconciliation.
I received a box of super-8 films recorded in Ängelholm (My place of birth). These disappeared in step with our family was falling apart. It was very interesting to make something artistic out of something so private
When I watched the videos, I’m struck by how normal everything looks in the images that flutter by. How everyone assumes the expected roles before the eternal gaze of the camera. But for me who was there the images evoke very strong emotions. Exposure, fear, total love...
At the same time, the process was very reconciling for me on a private level.
The project raises questions about exclusion. About being inside but outside. Outside but inside. Right but wrong, wrong but right!

Pain
Animated film and smaller installation
The ambiguity the titel bred in french and pain in english.(It refers also to pane in my second language Italian). The work is about ambiguity whom we can find in relation to many things. If we just look at the images food, time, liberation. What is also interesting with the film is that it contains a lot of different cultural references.

Under water
Film
We se a man who carries several stones under water. He is building an island under the surface. An island of his own.
A metafor of how we can find a way to suspend gravity of life and to reach ease told through the water that so naturally takes part of everything.

The Phoenix
Plaster, multimedia, text and peformance
A longer project with young people where we work on death by working with the myth of the Phoenix.
Bird Phoenix was king and decided on his own life.
Bird Phoenix was golden, beak was gold, feathers purple and eyes like sparkling stars
Bird Phoenix is born from fire and burns up when he dies.
Bird Phoenix dies and is reborn. He never dies.
He has eternal life.

During the Best Biennale I did a workshop that resulted in an exhibition. I chose to turn to young people connected to LSS because the theme of this year’s biennale was inclusion and accessibility. Based on previous experiences, I had a dream to make one in-depth project where students from these groups are helped to develop an alter ego with my help. It was nice to see how we worked as a team where I facilitated the participants to find its expression. We therefore owned the project together.

About
Christel Amos Jönsson
About
Christel Amos Jönsson is educated at the Accademia di Belle Arti, Florence, Italy. To live and work in one of Europe’s cultural epicenters for about ten years, left a deep mark on her future work.
The themes of her work touch on social, psychological issues which are reflected through her so typical poetic often autobiographical language.
Already at the academy, she made her first installations and performances. To get the opportunity to make an installation based on an existing painting by Ghirlandaio in a chapel outside Florence set the bar for how she later wanted to express her self. In this work she interpreted freely the painting by filling the entire chapel with fabrics, lights and sounds that emanated from the known art piece.
Since then, the room has been an important building block that is always included in her work, regardless of whether she works with painting, performance, installation or film. The room is an aspect that involves, engages and makes the viewer of the work a co-creator.
Working location-specific becomes natural whether she works with painting, performance, installation or film.
Her working method is often based on an existing place or material stimuli. Together with the room, the material or object is a symbol carrier. In her project Womanhood it was a room filled with used wedding dresses that ignited the artistic necessity.
Over time, she has developed a way of working where films/performance, room, object, material and installation always have a given relation. This process can begin with any of these building blocks and one leads to another.

The Cooperative
”Konst-fabriken”
In the ”Konst-Fabriken” we create collaborations with other artists and other artistic disciplines depending on the project. The collective mindset is important. To work together with the option that art can highlight problems and even make a difference.
We want to highlight necessary issues that we see in society and visualize them in a way that engages the audience often with workshops connected to our art works.
In the various projects that we work with, one artist being mainly responsible for the idea, which everyone then helps to implement with their skills.

Klotet ”La Sfera”
2022
Organizer H22 Helsingborg
La Sfera, the project where everyone contributes. Together with the Italian artist Edoardo Malagigi, you get to help cut strips from recycled tetrapacks. These strips are then rolled under his direction onto a large globe. It’s all very spectacular! The big ribbon ball then becomes a unifying symbol that with joint power and effort we can create a world of change, community and beauty. Something that most of us think is very important today.

Open studios
Konst-Fabriken organizes Open studios on two peninsulas since 2021
Open studios two peninsulas is an event that is meant to return annually and create encounters between local professional artists and the public. Parallel to classical expressions, contemporary expressions such as film, installations, performance etc. are presented and offer the audience a holistic experience. The artists open their studios and invite you to talk about the artistic process. The main aim of the project is to create interesting meetings through art that promote the artistic climate in the area.
